Getting Caught Up with Wrestling

Well, I have been away from wrestling for a bit now. I got busy doing some other things, including building this site. I missed from about August – February. My intention all along was to watch all the episodes and pay-per views I had missed. I began to realize that if I watched it all I wouldn’t get caught up till about Wrestlemania 26. Luckily with wrestling you can kind of tune in at any point and missing a few months isn’t a huge deal.

Now after saying that – WOW I missed a lot! Jericho was a champion multiple times. Matt and Jeff Hardy are now fighting. Jack Swagger? Who?

The most surprising thing I missed I think is the Main Event Mafia. Kurt Angle, Sting, Kevin Nash, Booker T, and Scott Steiner together as a team? I didn’t see that coming at all back in August. Although considering other than Angle the rest had been together in versions of the NWO, I guess it isn’t all that shocking.

While not watching I still managed to hear about a couple things. Things like Christian returning to the WWE, and Mick Foley leaving for TNA. both of which were and still are rather shocking to me. I do however love that I tuned in just in time for a classic matchup that will happen at TNA’s Lockdown – Mick Foley vs. Sting for the title.

Mick Foley vs. Sting

Mick Foley said something on this past week’s Impact! that is actually a bit true, and Vince McMahon is loathing eveyr second of it. He said, “Now people aren’t talking about that other wrestling show in April. They are talking about Mick Foley vs. Sting. they are talking about legend vs. icon.” Foley may be old and broken down, but he will still and always put his body on the line when it comes to being the main event. This means that their match should be able to live up to the hype – even if it would have been better 15 or 20 years ago.

One thing that upsets me is that even after six months of not watching or paying attention two of the most annoying “relationship storylines” in the history of wrestling are STILL here to annoy me. The first even has a new annoying name – Glamourella. Why, oh why must we have to put up with them? That isn’t quite as annoying as the other though. Edge and Vickie Guererro – now at first I said OK, this is annoying. I also thought to myself, well Eddie would understand it is all for the storyline and the nice paycheck, and wouldn’t be totally against it. Now however I feel Eddie is probably turning in his grave over it all. On the brightside though at least they added in The Big Show for a little bit of comedy now.

One more closing thought. Hallelujah – Mike Ademle was finally let go instead of promoted for not being able to remember his lines.
