WWE NXT Rookies
The show started off with M.V.P. explaining why the pros beat the rookies down last week. They basically kissed and made up.
Kaval vs. Alex Riley
This was actually a pretty good match. Probably because you had the FCW Champion facing a guy with 12 years experience that has held multiple titles all over the world. It was good to see Kaval/Senshi/Low-ki hasn’t missed a beat since leaving TNA. His kicks were better than ever, and he is still allowed to call his move The Warrior’s Way. In the end though Alex Riley got the three count.
Tag Team Match
Mark Henry & Lucky Cannon vs. Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston & Michael McGillicutty
Apparently McGillicutty is a name from his mother’s side of the family. I still don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to be called Hennig if you are a professional wrestler. However, regardless of the name wrestling runs deep through his veins. It was a good match, in the end McGillicutty hit a running neckbreaker out of nowhere and got the pin. It was a very impressive move, and surely a sign of things to come from this future WWE Superstar.
The problem with hour long shows is that they only fit in two matches. Remember the days when you’d sit and watch the late night Saturday WWE shows on a local channel? For me it was WWOR TV out od Secaucus, NJ. The show would come on at 11PM ET. They would fit 4 or maybe even 5 matches into a one hour show. Ahhh, the good old days.
Well even if it is only two matches it is much better than the first season of NXT with maybe one match and a bunch of annoying competitions that were meaningless. After just two episodes of this second season has been better than the entire first season. Of course I did only watch two episodes of the first season, but that’s because it was crap.
