It’s time for the Hardcore Justice pay-per-view, and as is the trend there is nothing hardcore or extreme about it. It will however, in my opinion include a Match of the Year contender.
Here is the lineup of matches and my predictions.
They have been setting this match up for weeks now. The storyline is Devon’s family likes The Pope, but Devon thinks he is a bad influence on them, and doesn’t trust The Pope one bit. I don’t think the match will be all that interesting, but it is good to see Devon getting storylines and TV time just like Bully Ray is as a singles wrestler. In the end I see Devon winning the match… Unless they want to continue the storyline even further. If they do, then I see one of Devon’s sons interfering in the match to help The Pope win. Perhaps even leading to his two sons being split in their thinking and ending with a tag match with Devon and one son against The Pope and the other.
This is a Bound for Glory series match, and the winner will be in sole possession of first place in the series. It will be Crimson’s youth and power against RVD’s experience and high-flying offense. It could be an exciting match, but could easily fall into the boring lackluster category, too. I am thinking it might land somewhere in the middle. I think RVD wins only because it puts him in the driver’s seat to get a title shot. I don’t really feel Crimson is ready for a title shot, but they have done crazier things, so you never know.
I love that TNA has given the Knockouts Division a Tag Team Championship. This way it isn’t just one Knockout on top with everyone pursuing her to get the title, and the whole time the fans knowing there are only about 3 or 4 in line with a chance to win the title. With the tag titles it gives people like Tara and Miss Tessmacher to shine a bit more. Miss Tessmacher has put in a lot of hard work to actually become a pretty good in ring competitor. It would suck if she had to just be shuffled in near the bottom of the singles division. Please see the WWE Divas division for a prime example of what I am saying.
Anyway, about this match… I think it will be a pretty interesting match, but in the end I see Tara and Miss Tessmacher retaining the titles. The ONLY way I see Sarita and Rosita winning the titles back in this match is if the plan is for Hernandez and Anarchia to also win the tag titles. If they really want to extend the annoying Mexican America storyline perhaps they will give them both sets of tag titles.
Please see my note for the previous match. The only way I see Hernandez and Anarchia winning the titles is if they plan to give them all titles, or if Storm has a legitimate injury that will cause him to be out for a while.
The only reason this feud is happening is for the exact reason Mr. Anderson pointed out during this week’s Impact. Neither of them were booked in a match for the pay-per-view. Mr. Anderson should wind up winning this somewhat pointless match.
This should be a very exciting match, of course it is the X-Division, so if it isn’t they are doing something wrong. I think Austin Aries will win the X Division title. This will probably lead to a series of matches between him and Alex Shelley.
And the Fortune – Immortal feud continues on. This time it is a six-man tag match; Christopher Daniels, A.J. Styles, and Kazarian vs. Abyss, Gunner, and Scott Steiner. This seems to be another “well we aren’t booked in a match” matches. Who will win? Does it really matter? It will just let the feud continue on one way or another. I do see one possible twist happening… Daniels could turn on Styles and wind up joining Immortal.
I don’t really see Winter being able to sustain any sort of a title reign, so I doubt she will win. With that being said however, with Angelina Love at ringside it is very possible with help Winter could win the title. TNA signed the big name Mickie James though and will probably keep the title with her…at least until Love gets her shot in the near future.
This is of course the match of the night, and the one I think could wind up being a Match of the Year candidate. Kurt Angle leaves everything he has in the ring every time. Sting does the same when given the chance. I think the two older guys will show the youngsters how to have the stamina to put on a 45 minute or so match that people will be talking about for years to come. I think in the end Kurt Angle will regain the title and finally get the legitimate win against the Icon Sting. This will most likely spawn a great series of matches between the two in the coming weeks…if they both come out of it in wrestling condition.
You can watch their match from Bound for Glory in 2007 here to get ready for their title match tonight.
Basically, even if the rest of the pay-per-view wound up sucking…the main event will make it worth the money you spend to see it.
